HGPA is lobbying on behalf of general practice and our patients

Pharmacy

  • Many GPs have raised concerns about the inappropriate influenza vaccines having been provided by pharmacies and other vaccinators.  The HGPA responded by
    • talking to local pharmacy bodies
    • media release for local newspapers and radio stations.  Interviews on 2NURFM and NBN were given.

Government and Institutions

  • HGPA and HGPA member queries and proposals to Government at various levels, including HNECCPHN
    • ​GP Perspectives on RACFs and COVID-19 - a report compiling the Victorian experience of GPs and medical staff, and proposing mechanisms to better coordinate and expand the role of GPs
    • Joint Operations Committee - Proposal (Hunter New England Central Coast Region)
    • A Whole-of-Community approach to COVID-19 - an adaptation of the Joint Operations Committee proposal, prepared for the NSW Ministry COVID-19 Primary Care Community of Practice 
  • 7 April - GP requests information from PHN re PPE and the PHN response
  • 16 March - in discussion with and in support of RACFs restricting access to their facilities, HGPA published a media release and letters of support.  Interviews on local ABC radio and NBN television were given.

  • 2 Jun - Pandemic not over yet - Newcastle Weekly
  • 7 May - Public messaging about influenza vaccination shortages - ABC 1233 & 2NURFM.
  • 28 April - Supporting the launch of the COVIDSafe app, HGPA contributed to articles in the Newcastle Herald and a 2NURFM radio interview.
  • 5 April - The HPGA was concerned about the lack of appropriate COVID responses by some retailers. In response it created a media release which was sent to the local newspapers and radio stations. Interviews on the local ABC radio and 2NURFM were given.
