What we need is a complete reappraisal of the current funding model for general practice, reflective of the true cost of providing quality continuity of care within a changed health demography. This would provide an opportunity for the profession, but must be driven by general practice itself.
As a profession, we must change our way of thinking around the provision of quality care. The RACGP will continue to lead advocacy efforts in this area and represent the interests of all GPs and their patients."
